This week’s photo challenge is the theme Together.  Well – there are moments in life that you will remember forever – this photo represents one of them.  I first set foot in the little Tuscan hilltop village of Montalcino back in 2006, while visiting for an afternoon during a family reunion trip.  I soon fell under the spell of this magical village and fortunately have found time to return every year, if only for a short stay.

This week’s photo challenge is Sun. I immediately knew which photo to use – one of my favorites from a few summers ago taken during a quick day trip to Elba while I was toodling around the western coast of Italy.  As I sat atop the ferry on the way across the sea to the tiny island, a beautiful flock of seagulls followed the ship, diving and swooping in the draft of the boat.

Ahhh, the story behind this photo! My, my – where to start?? In 2006 – after my divorce – I decided it was time  to visit the motherland. So passport and suitcase in hand, off I went solo to Santo Stefano di Camastra, my mother’s village in Sicilia. Although I had visited Italy previously, this was my first time trying my hand behind the wheel. Mama mia! After getting lost in Palermo and finally finding the autostrada, my little feet were shaking on the pedals something fierce but I soon arrived safe and sound at my destination.

This week’s photo challenge theme is ‘Journey’.   This photo was taken in Pantelleria in October 2008. This was my second journey to this magical island which lies closer to Tunisia than Sicilia.

This week’s photo challenge was to photograph things that represented the word ‘Arranged’. Given I was fortunate enough to spend last weekend toodling around Firenze, I roamed the streets looking for subjects to fit the bill! Spring was just beginning to blossom across the city – from the blooms on the wisteria to the people laying out in the sun near the Ponte Vecchio, it was evident that there was a lightness to the mood of the city as wintery days turned to sun-filled warmth.
