I am second generation Italian American. My mother always made this dish around the holidays ! It has become a family tradition of ours to make this at all holidays. My sons even look forward to it! We never put rasins in though. My mom used capers instead. I think this is more of the Sicilian way as she was half Sicilian. Anyway, no matter how u make it it is delicious!
